Omega Seamaster Taucher 300M Co-Axial Chronograph ETNZ Uhr für 2015 Amerikas Cup

Für 2015 veröffentlicht Omega eine neue Version ihres Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial Chronographen mit einem anderen Modell zur Feier ihrer Sponsorschaft des America's Cup ETNZ Teams (Emirates Team New Zealand). Während ich Omega Tauchuhren liebe, ist die Seamaster-Kollektion zugegebenermaßen ein wenig überfüllt, so dass die Namenskonventionen korrekt ist eine Kunst. Wie Sie wahrscheinlich wissen, ist die Seamaster 300M Familie völlig anders als die Omega Seamaster 300 Uhrenfamilie. Was für ein Unterschied ein "M" macht ... Omega auch manchmal wirft in "Diver" auf den Namen - Sie wissen, nur um die Dinge interessant. In jedem Fall ist die Attraktivität der verschiedenen Omega Seamaster Uhren sehr unterschiedlich, ob Sie auf einen 300M oder ein Planet Ocean suchen.
Diese Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial Chronograph ETNZ kommt in einem 44mm-breiten Titan-Gehäuse 5 (ich bin nicht ganz sicher, ob dies der erste ist, aber ich erinnere mich nicht früheren Fällen wie diese in Titan - mindestens nicht Klasse 5 ). Wasserdicht bis 300 Meter verfügt der Omega Seamaster Diver 300M über eine manuelle Helium-Entlüftungsventilkrone auf der linken Seite des Gehäuses, die es heute noch gibt, vor allem für Stil und Spaß Feature. Dennoch lieben wir die Seamaster Diver 300M Uhren für ihre langlebige Bau- und Werkzeug-Performance, aber auch für ihre sportlichen Looks, die viel Farbe enthalten. Omega bietet außerdem eine neue Art von Gummiband, hergestellt in einem hochwertigen Material, das mit einem strukturierten schwarzen Streifen auf der Oberseite und einem roten Streifen auf der Unterseite gebildet wird.

Seiko Astron GPS Solar 2013 Uhren Hands-On

Ich reise ziemlich viel und eine Sache, die ich bemerkt habe viel in letzter Zeit ist Seiko Astron Werbung in Flughäfen. Das macht Sinn, da in manchen Grüßen Seiko hat die perfekte Reise zu sehen. Ein Zeitmesser, der automatisch eine Verbindung zu globalen Positionierungssatelliten herstellen kann, um die Uhrzeit und den Standort der Uhr zu aktualisieren, ist ein bemerkenswertes Werkzeug für den häufigen und beschäftigten Reisenden. Nun, trotz unserer Vorschläge an Seiko, dass wir eines dieser zu testen, während unserer Reisen, aBlogtoWatch hat noch eine noch nicht getestet bekommen. Obwohl, glaube ich, wird sich in naher Zukunft ändern. Jedenfalls, ursprünglich im Jahr 2012 veröffentlicht, die "neue" Seiko Astron GPS bekommt neue Versionen für 2013 und bessere Preise. Seiko zeigt auch Verbesserungen im Gesamtdesign. Zuerst werfen Sie einen Blick auf die 2012 Seiko Astron-Modelle hier. Ein kleiner, aber nützlicher Unterschied ist die Bewegung der Referenz-Stadt-Indikatoren zur Lünette gegenüber dem Zifferblatt. So zeigt die rehaut die GMT plus oder minus Zeit, und die Lünette hat die Referenzstadt.


Seiko Astron Uhren bleiben groß bei 47mm breit und eine satte 17.4mm dick. Sie sind sehr tragbar, und die Größe ist vor allem mit der Technologie im Inneren zu tun. Neben dem Anschluss an das GPS ist der Astron auch eine Seiko Solar-Uhr, die bedeutet, dass die Batterie über eine Photovoltaikzelle unter dem Zifferblatt wieder aufgeladen wird.
Case Haltbarkeit ist auch sehr gut. Das Gehäuse ist wasserdicht bis 100 Meter und stark antimagnetisch (bis zu 4.800 A / m). Seiko verwendet sogar eine hochkratzfeste Keramik-Lünette und der Astron ist sowohl in Stahl als auch in Titan erhältlich. Ferner sind die Kristalle Saphir und AR-beschichtet. Was bedeutet das alles? Gut für mich ist es eine Rückkehr der "High-End-Quarzuhr." Watch-Liebhaber kennen die seltene Faszination der High-End-Quarzuhr. Dies sind Uhren mit Quarz versus mechanische Bewegungen, die die Fähigkeit haben, über traditionelle Uhrenliebhaber wegen der hochwertigen Funktionen innen und außen zu locken. Typischerweise enthalten diese Uhren Bewegungen mit Merkmalen, die man nie in einer mechanischen Bewegung haben könnte. Ein traditionelles Beispiel sind hochgenaue thermo-kompensierte Quarzbewegungen, und jetzt haben wir diejenigen, die mit GPS zu verbinden.


Zur Erinnerung: Die Seiko Astrons verfügen über die Uhrzeit, den ununterbrochenen Kalender, die Weltzeitfunktion mit 39 verfügbaren Zeitzonen, die GPS-Zeitsynchronisation, die Sommerzeitfunktion, die Batteriestandsanzeige mit Energiesparmodus und natürlich die GPS-Signalanzeige . Um eine effektive Verbindung zu erreichen, sucht die Uhr mit vier oder mehr verfügbaren Satelliten zu verbinden. Dies ist Teil der Kaliber 7X52 Bewegung. Wenn ich irgendeine Funktionalität hinzufügen könnte, wäre es mehr Indikatoren für den Kalender sowie ein Chronograph (idealerweise eine, die bis zu 24 Stunden oder mehr zählt).
Also, was sind die neuen Modelle für 2013? Sie sind das Seiko Astron SAST015 in Titan auf einem Armband, das SAST 025 in einem schwarzen IP-Stahlgehäuse auf einem Armband mit orangefarbener Zierleiste und die SAST100, die limitierte Edition Kinatro Hattori Special Limited Edition, die wir in einem separaten aBlogtoWatch abdecken werden Artikel. Die SAST015 ist wahrscheinlich meine Wahl des Modells mit seinem Titan und Keramikgehäuse. Keramik wird nicht nur für die Blende, sondern auch für die mittlere Verbindung auf dem Armband verwendet. Das Zifferblatt ist rot markiert. Obwohl beide von ihnen sind eine gute Wahl je nach Ihrem Stil. Ich habe gerade zufällig wie Titan und Armbänder. Es gibt auch die SAST019 Version mit blauem Keramik und Titan oder der SAST017 mit schwarzen Keramik- und Goldakzenten.
Vielleicht sind die optimistischsten Nachrichten für 2013 die Preissenkungen, die das Seiko Astron noch mehr zugänglich gemacht haben. Darüber hinaus denke ich, die neue Preisgestaltung gilt für alle Modelle auch die aus dem letzten Jahr. G. Gerlach Navigator

I was chatting with a fellow watch nerd about our recent acquisitions, and I proudly showed him the G. Gerlach Navigator I was preparing to review. He was not familiar with the brand, so I explained that they are a Polish watchmaker with several models under their belt. He raised his eyebrows. "There is a micro brand in Poland?" It was not the first time I had encountered that reaction, nor would it be the last. Everyone is curious about this watch, simply because they don't associate watches with that country. That changes when they get their hands on the Navigator, a handsome watch with a compressor style case, Seiko NH35 automatic movement, 100 meters water resistance, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. 

The watch has much to offer, and is part of a larger mission to renew innovation in Polish industry. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am also a Wine Bum. I'm hardly a full-fledged oenophile, but unsurprisingly, I do enjoy finding nice wines at bargain prices. Wine nerds have a somewhat nebulous concept called terroir, defined as a sense of place manifested in the wine. It comes from environmental properties such as climate, mineral content, and topography. Whether it is science or poetry is a matter of some debate, but I find the idea appealing. Obviously, there can be no true terroir in an artificial item like watch, but we have all experienced the personalities of machines, and right or wrong, we tend to associate them with their place of origin. It is a bit of fiction when you think about it, particularly considering that the vast majority of watches are actually constructed far from their home countries, but it remains a powerful notion nonetheless. 

The G. Gerlach Foundation understands this. The brand is named for Gustaw Gerlach, a 19th-century industrialist whose Warsaw factory made optical devices and later, compasses, manometers, and aircraft instruments. Neither the factory nor the company survived World War Two. Today, Poland once again has a thriving manufacturing industry, producing cars, airplanes, and appliances. While the founders of the new G. Gerlach applaud this resurgence, but lament the absence of Polish identity in these goods, because the majority are designed and engineered elsewhere. As stated on their website:

[T]he promotion of a country is most effective by associating products with the given country. The more innovative, advanced, and good looking the product is, the stronger the association with the country it was made in. IKEA, Lego, Nokia, Mercedes-Benz, Sony — those keywords describe not only companies, but also the countries of their origin.

To this end, they aim to revitalize creativity and innovation in Polish engineering and design - starting with their watches, which are inspired by the country's industrial achievements including sailing ships, submarines, aircraft, automobiles, and motorcycles. Indeed, browsing the product page is a thumbnail history lesson. The Navigator fits neatly into this scheme, given the original G. Gerlach's production of precision equipment. The association is underscored by the engraved compass design that decorates its case back. 

The Navigator's stainless steel case has the athletic build one expects in a modern tool watch, measuring 42mm across, 51mm long, and 13mm thick. It is not overly large, but the vertical sides and brushed finish give it a burly look. Like the iconic Longines Super Compressor, it has crowns at 2 and 4 o'clock. On this watch, they are large, coin edged, and sandblasted. Both are decorated; the upper crown has "Navigator" engraved around its perimeter, and the lower bears the double G logo. The upper crown operates the internal bezel, and rotates smoothly. The lower is a push-pull that sets the movement. The polished outer bezel is concave, creating three distinct reflective surfaces when viewed straight on. It is an unconventional design choice that adds to the character of the watch. 

The lugs are tapered and curved, with 22mm between them. While the overall case quality is very good, I did take exception to the finishing of the lugs. The inner edges are sharp – not just "clearly defined" sharp, but more like "be careful when you touch that" sharp. They don't contact your wrist, but they are disappointingly unfinished.  

Inside the case beats a Time Module (Seiko) NH35a. This 24 jewel automatic movement hums along at 21.6k bph. It hacks, hand winds, and has a power reserve of over 40 hours. This same movement powers several watches in my collection, so I anticipate this one to be every bit as reliable and  accurate. As I have come to expect from these a Seiko automatics, it is a quiet movement. You can hear the rotor if you really listen, but it never intrudes.

The watch has a black sunburst dial with tan lume on the markers and hands. The numerals on the inner bezel are printed in a bold, serif font; all other markers and indices are bars. The second hand and hour hand sport broad arrowheads. Text is minimal and printed in white save for the red "100." It is a clean, modern look that is nicely mellowed by the vintage effect of the tan lume. I was drawn in by this dial from the moment I saw the initial renderings over a year ago, and I can report that it is just as impressive in person. You can order the Navigator with a 4:30 date window, but I prefer the dial uninterrupted.

Night visibility is excellent. The hands, markers, and bezel all light up with a bright green glow. 

Strap options include thick brown leather, olive green canvas, and a solid link bracelet. I ordered the leather and the bracelet. The bracelet is 22mm wide and does not taper. Links are solid with a brushed finish. It secures with a signed, flip lock diver's clasp. I knocked out four links and it fit my 6.5" wrist very well after cinched it in with a couple micro adjustments on the clasp. It is a quality bracelet, sturdy and comfortable. The links are a bit tight when you first wear it, making the whole thing a bit stiff, but it should loosen up with wear. I was skeptical of the straight end links at first because I have found that on many watches they leave an unsightly gap. This was not the case on the Navigator. The straight ends are close to the case, which is beveled between the lugs for clearance. 

I like the solid look of the bracelet, but I don't think it is the best option for the watch. The thick brown leather strap is a much better complement to the tan markers on the dial. The buckle resembles a smaller, rounder version of a Panerai, and balances well with the case. I didn't order the canvas strap, but the green color would also work well with the warm tones in the dial. I found the bracelet to be too cold against the dial for my tastes, but it only adds 140zl ($38 USD) to the cost of the watch. For that price, there is really no reason not to give it a try yourself.

Speaking of price, the Navigator lists for 1399zl ($385 USD) on the standard leather strap. I'd say it is well worth the money. The specs are spot-on, and like other G. Gerlach watches, it deftly marries classic style with a modern aesthetic. I am thoroughly enjoying my Navigator, and I suspect you will too.

Pro: Lovely dial, slick bezels.

Con: Rough between the lugs.

Sum: If this is the future of Polish design, you can count me in. The Time Bum approves.

Preview: Moto Koure MK I

The fellows behind Australian micro brand Moto Koure have a thing for old Jaguars. It is a weakness The Time Bum shares. I have always longed for a vintage Jag, be it an elegant XJ6, the jaunty XK120, or the iconic XKE - the car Road & Track's Henry N. Manny III called "The greatest crumpet collector known to man." They are all delightful, but the best all-around Jaguars may well be the classic MK series. When launched in 1955, the MK1 set the standard for the modern sports sedan with achievements on the street and at the track, topped only by the magnificent MK2 that purred through the swinging 60's, epitomizing Jaguar's values of "grace, space, and pace." Moto Koure drew upon this rich history for their debut watches, and from the early renderings, I think they nailed it.

The MK I is a cushion case chronograph reminiscent of the Heuer Silverstone. The rectangular stainless steel case is 40mm wide, 44mm long, and 13mm thick with rounded corners. A lugless design keeps it compact. It wears an attractive combination of finishes. The stepped bezel is polished and the case sides feature vertical brushing and elongated pushers running its length on either side of the chevon-textured crown. Water resistance is 50m. A drilled leather rally strap completes the picture.

While the case harkens back to a motoring watch, it is the dial that carries the most notable automotive cues. Under the flat sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating lie rich colors and sunray finishes.  The 9 and 3 o'clock sub dials, and 6 o'clock date window are set into an oblong cutaway that mimics a dashboard, and like a luxury car, it features a tasteful accent in the form of pebble grain, diamond plate, or wood grain texture. A dash plate on top bears the Moto Koure brand and logo. "Old Radium" color SuperLuminova on the baton hands and markers is the finishing touch. It's a gorgeous design offering a taste of automobilia without becoming a caricature. 

A friend with an XJ12 once told me, "Part of the mystique of owning a Jag is knowing you can afford to fix it." I suspect this is one Jaguar trait the MK I will not emulate. Moto Koure offers two engine options: a Seiko VK MechaQuartz and a NE88 column-wheel automatic. Both are reliable units and buyers can choose the one that best fits their taste and budget. 

Full retail will be $635 AUD ($444 USD) for the MechaQuartz and $1,400 AUD ($976 USD) for the automatic; however, early buyers can get in for as low as $375 AUD ($261 USD) and $1110 AUD ($774 USD). Those prices will rise as more units are sold.
